The Ultra-Lok's patented design and heat treatment creates an outer case hardness that allows the bolt to serve as a tap-like cutter.  The temperature-resistant bolt meets or exceeds the mechanical properties of the tensile strength of a grade 8 fastener.

The Ultra-Lok is made of 4140 Alloy Steel, heat treated Rockwell 50-55 to a depth of .008 - .012 with a core hardness of 32-39.

The Oversized Ultra-Lok replaces both USS and SAE threads that are stripped out, usually without drilling.  However (METRIC THREADS) are easily repaired by simply (DRILLING) and installing the proper size Ultra-Lok.
